The program involves sector - specific civic education work and community campaigns on social policy delivery points. Through this program ZIMCODD aims at developing a proactive citizenship in claiming ownership and meaningful participation in economic policy formulation and implementation. This is done through a training of trainers process which draws from the various credible local, regional and global knowledge sources. ZIMCODD’s Southern and Northern regional offices have been strategically placed to implement this program pending expansion into the ten administrative provinces in Zimbabwe. Policy Research Analysis and Advocacy With this program ZIMCODD explores ways of unlocking resources for development, advocating and providing support for national resource mobilisation. This involves reviewing and analysing public finance policies and national municipal budgets in the context of public service delivery in order to advocate for alternative policies. Research and policy analysis provides relevant economic and financial knowledge base to support stakeholders in dialogue and policy action from an informed and prospective point of view. ZIMCODD’s research is done in collaboration with reputable national and international research institutions. Under this program, ZIMCODD has done research work on the Social effects and Politics of public debt Management in Zimbabwe (2001), An Analysis of the objectives and effects of privatisation on the public sector and the role of the state in Zimbabwe (20060, as well as the Legal Framework of the Public Loan Contraction and Debt Management in Zimbabwe. ZIMCODD also spearheads pro-people advocacy campaigns such as the Global Week of Action on Trade Justice, the Rural Livelihoods Project and community level socio-economic justice campaigns to lobby for economic policies work for citizens. Information, Communications & Technology Through this programme, ZIMCODD encourages the formation of critical mass by developing relevant databases, and making information on social justice available to its members and other stakeholders. The programme also helps to develop appropriate communication systems, policies and tools for the organisation. This programme also seeks to integrate appropriate Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs) in ZIMCODD's programme structures. Social Movement building SAPSN As part of its social movement building contribution in the region, ZIMCODD hosts the Secretariat of the Southern African People’s Solidarity Network, SAPSN since 2003. SAPSN is a network involving a broad range of civil society organisations and institutions, including trade unions, development NGOs, church-based social organisations, community-based movements working towards regional development and around the inter-linked issues of debt, structural adjustment and anti-globalisation. SAPSN is working on alternatives to globalisation and supporting people-led regional integration. The Zimbabwe Social Forum In an endeavour to build a vibrant social and economic justice movement in Zimbabwe, ZIMCODD spearheaded the initiation of the Zimbabwe Social Forum process in 2003. Since then, ZIMCODD has incubated a vibrant and growing movement as the host Secretariat and has managed to maintain the Zimbabwe Social Forum as a public space for reflective thinking, democratic debate, formulation and exchange of ideas, by people committed to building peaceful and fruitful relationships.
